This training seminar will feature an overview of the proper service of process including subjects such as due diligence, methods of service, returns, a summary of Non-Enforceable Writs and an analysis of how bankruptcy affects the service or process. Actual cases and fact situations will also be presented.


This seminar is designed to provide detailed training on the service of Enforceable Writs. It also includes a "Best Proposed Forms" section as well as individual time slots for legal advice and document review. The advanced training seminar will also address recent issues that have arisen in Sheriff's offices around the State to allow other offices to get a step up on current nuances in the service of process.


KCPT, Inc is certified by the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC), State of Florida, to present Seminars and Courses for Career Advancement credit for Florida Sheriffs.

Gerard Keating has been a Florida licensed attorney for 34 years practicing in all aspects of the law, specifically civil litigation. Mr. Keating was a board certified civil trial lawyer from 1989 - 2004. Mr. Keating has 23 plus years of teaching experience, more recently in the paralegal program at Daytona State College.

He has been providing Sheriff's Offices throughout the State with on-demand legal advice regarding civil process issues since 2004. Mr. Keating's experience and expertise provides him with a cutting edge view of civil process. Jessie Keating Hardy is a member of the Florida and also Alabama Bar.

or you may visit one of the Clerk of Courts Office locations to obtain the documents required.

In order to allow for the processing of all documents, applications should be submitted 6 -8 weeks prior to the expiration date reflected on the Administrative Order.


All applications must be filed with the Clerk of Court along with a non-refundable fee of $100.00 for a new and renewal applicants.  The fee is made payable to the Brevard County Clerk of Courts by cash, check, money order, cashier’s check, debit card, Visa, American Express, Discover, or Mastercard.  You may submit your payments and paperwork by mailing them to :

You may also submit all the paperwork and payments at any one of the Clerk of Court’s offices.  Do not send cash through the mail. 

A non-refundable $50.00 payment to the Brevard County Sheriff’s office for a background investigation. Fingerprint cards may be obtained at any Brevard County Sheriff’s precinct and fingerprints are taken by Sheriff’s Office personnel.  Contact should be made with the precinct for fingerprinting times.

The new Administrative Order (14-18-B, signed on March 19, 2014, by John M. Harris, Chief Judge) now mandates that a process server renewal orientation class is required annually.

Effective July 1, 2008, the Brevard County Clerk of Court assumed the responsibility of processing applications for individuals seeking to become a Certified Process Server in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.  Pursuant to Section 48.27(1). Florida Statutes, each person whose name has been added  to the approved Process Server list is subject to annual re-certification and reappointment by the Chief Judge.

This Brevard course is also valid in the 9th judicial circuit for Orange and Osceola counties.

Keating Civil Process Training Policy:

  • All fees are non-refundable. Fees paid for cancelled classes will be applied to rescheduled class.
  • Anyone who Fails an Examination will be eligible to take the next available class for which he qualifies.
  • For example: If someone fails a Renewal Examination then he may take the next Renewal Class unless he will be expired at the date of that class.
  • All Process Servers who have expired and any new Process Servers must take the next available New Orientation Class.
  • For example: Anyone who Fails the New Orientation Examination must wait until at least for the next scheduled New Orientation Class to retake the Examination.
